"Am I going to be white?"

I do some adoption work as a lawyer. Last week, I was finalizing an adoption of four kids by one couple. The couple and their biological chilren are white. The four kids they were adopting are black. It was a fun experience, because all of the kids seemed to really get along and the kids being adopted seemed to have adjusted very well. At the conclusion of the hearing, the youngest boy who was adopted, about four years old, approached his grandmother and asked very seriously "Am I going to be white now?"
